Sustainability

Considered by Design

For us, sustainability is not about perfection. It is about making more considered choices — from the fabrics we select and the quantities we produce, to the way each collection is designed to live alongside the one before it.

Second Summer was founded around the idea of a smaller, more intentional wardrobe. We create pieces to be worn, loved and returned to season after season — timeless silhouettes that move beyond a single summer, destination or moment.

Designed to Build, Not Replace

Each Second Summer capsule is designed to build on the one before it.

Rather than asking you to buy an entirely new wardrobe every season, we develop each collection so that new pieces can be worn back with previous capsules, allowing you to mix, match and rework what you already own.

Colours, fabrics, proportions and silhouettes are considered across seasons. A skirt from one capsule might pair with a shirt introduced the following year; a jacket can be layered over dresses and separates already in your wardrobe.

Each new collection is designed to add to your Second Summer wardrobe, rather than replace it.

For us, that is a more thoughtful way to design — with continuity, longevity and versatility at its core.

Materials Matter

Fabric is at the heart of everything we create.

Across our collections, we work with linen, cotton, silk, wool, lyocell and carefully selected blends, choosing materials for their quality, handle, longevity and the way they feel against the skin.

We take time to develop and refine our fabrications, looking for materials that elevate familiar silhouettes while remaining comfortable and wearable.

Rather than designing around fast-moving trends, we focus on fabrics and shapes that can live in your wardrobe for years — pieces made to travel, layer, rewear and rediscover.

A More Considered Approach to Swim

Our swimwear is crafted from biodegradable yarn and designed with both longevity and its eventual end of life in mind.

Designed in the UK and produced in Brazil by our specialist swimwear manufacturing partner, our swim pieces are made in a PETA-approved vegan factory.

To further minimise waste during production, fabric offcuts are repurposed into bedding for dog rescue centres, giving remaining material another purpose rather than allowing it to go to waste.

For us, consideration should extend beyond how a garment looks when it first arrives. We want to think about how it is made, how long it can be loved and what happens beyond its first life.

Smaller Runs, Less Excess

We intentionally produce in smaller quantities.

Our collections are developed as considered capsules rather than high-volume seasonal drops, allowing us to respond more closely to demand and reduce unnecessary excess stock.

Many of our signature pieces return season after season, sometimes reworked through a new colour or fabrication. We do not believe a favourite should become irrelevant simply because the calendar changes.

By producing fewer pieces and designing with continuity in mind, we hope to create a wardrobe that grows slowly and thoughtfully over time.

Designed to Last Beyond the Season

Second Summer was created for a life lived between places, seasons and occasions.

We want our pieces to become part of the memories you make in them — packed for holidays, worn through summers, taken back to the city, layered as the weather changes and brought out again the following year.

Our approach is simple: thoughtful fabrics, versatile silhouettes, smaller collections and pieces designed to work together season after season.

Made to escape the ordinary. Designed to stay with you beyond the season.
